Opened by Eric Clapton in 1998, the 32-bed Crossroads Centre Antigua is a nonprofit international center of excellence for the treatment of alcohol or drug addiction and other addictive disorders. The center’s mission is to help people and their families make the changes necessary to find new health, a new sense of well-being, and a new life of recovery.

The center deploys the “whole-person approach” to healing and recovery by assisting each client in improving the quality of his or her relationships, career, and social, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

The program offers a 29-day as well as a six week residential chemical dependency program which includes medical detoxification services, 12-step meetings and groups, individual and group therapy, individual assignments, nutritional and spiritual counseling, and recovery lectures.

Additional program services are provided as part of the package to enhance recovery: yoga, auricular acupuncture, fitness training and therapeutic massage. Included in the total cost is a four-day family outpatient program. Medical and clinical health professionals help families understand the disease of addiction, improve family relationships, and support the recovery process.

Free ground transportation is provided to and from the airport, and patients are met at the airport by a staff member. Family members attending the family outpatient program may opt to stay on campus in a separate residence or at one of the nearby local hotels.

Continuing care is a vital aspect of the recovery process and all clients are provided with ongoing referrals before they are discharged from the facility. An Alumni services department follows up with clients for at least two years post- treatment to support the ongoing recovery process. Alumni chapter groups are located in various US states and parts of Europe.

Crossroads Centre offers five day renewal programs for people in recovery, during which patients can reconnect with the program and as an enhancement to any healthy recovery program or to provide support if persons are struggling. Participants need not have completed treatment at Crossroads to attend.

Crossroads is affiliated with The Sanctuary in Delray Beach, Florida, a transitional living home for men in recovery.

Crossroads has been such an important factor in my continued sobriety. I would love to say that life went perfectly when I returned home but I consider myself blessed that I survived the experience and knew what I needed to do because of the wonderful staff and support Crossroads gave me. —Tim
